Seeding of teams are based on division record and applying the WNYAHL tiebreakers as outlined in the Guide Book. The Sport-Ngin platform isn't capable of performing the tie-breakers as per our guidebook, so the order of tied teams in the standings is often incorrect. We discuss this every year at the scheduling meeting, but it is not often remembered.
Playoff scores will be updated on the division pages and tweeted out on social media. All other information will be posted on the Playoff 2020 page under the travel tab and on the home page of the WNYAHL website

New Rule book available for 2017 - 2021 seasons
Associations that would like to host Girls Tier I NTB teams for the following season must publish and advertise tryout dates prior to the start of the current USA Hockey National Championship; provided, however, that no tryouts or activities that could be construed as such may occur until 48 hours after the last game of the Tier I Girls’ and Tier II Girls’ National Championships.
Associations holding tryouts, and players trying out, are not necessarily guaranteed that the teams selected/rostered through tryouts will be granted Girls Tier I NTB status. All rostered teams seeking this designation must carry a minimum of 15 players, including goaltenders, and the greatest percentage of the players on the roster must be residents of the State of New York as determined under USA Hockey Rule III.C (Registration).
We are passing along another update related to the transition of the SafeSport Training. In addition, we will post updates online at www.usahockey.com/safesport to keep the USA Hockey membership up to date on any impact of this transition. We have now been notified that the new estimated launch date is Monday, November 6, 2017.
Please note anyone wishing to complete the existing SafeSport course offerings, including the Refresher course, must now do so NO LATER THAN WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 1, 2017 AT 11:59pm EASTERN TIME.
NO COURSES will be available from Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at 11:59pm Eastern time until Monday, November 6, 2017.
Following November 1, all relevant individuals who need to be SafeSport certified or are seeking recertification will need to complete the new full SafeSport training course, which will be available Monday, November 6, and will feature updated content. Upon completion of the online SafeSport training, individuals will be certified for two seasons. A new SafeSport refresher course will be added to the platform in 2018. This will be an abbreviated version intended for individuals who have previously completed the three core SafeSport courses and need to recertify. Users completing the SafeSport refresher course will be certified for an additional two seasons.
Brad Frost is the Head Coach for the University of Minnesota Women's Ice Hockey team.
Frost believes it is in the best interest of youth athletes if their parents support their athletic experiences no matter the level of competition they play in. If a youth athlete is not playing for a top-tier team, that is not a good reason to be less supportive because the ultimate goal should be for a kid to have fun in any youth sports league. Essentially, it is more important to enjoy time with your kid than critiquing everything they did wrong in a game. Frost believes parents who put too much pressure on their kids, especially during that 'car ride home,' will chase them away from sports. If a kid is afraid to get into the car ride home after a bad game, it is unlikely he will want to continue to play.
